ما عود وحده يلصا ، و إذا لصي تقاما

معنى هذا المثل أن العود لا يتقد بمفرده ولا يشتعل ، وإذا اتقد فإنه سرعان ما ينطفىء ويتحول الى رماد. يضرب في ضياع الجهد الوحيد إذا لم يجد من يعينه ويدعمه. و يؤكد على أهمية التكاتف و الوحدة. و منها المثل القائل “ما رجّال الا برِجَال”.
يلصا : يتقد ، وتقاما : يخبو أواره.

A single stick cannot sustain a fire, and if it does ignite, it will extinguish rapidly. This proverb emphasises the importance of unity or collaboration. Just as a single stick cannot sustain a fire for long, an individual may struggle to accomplish tasks or overcome challenges alone. However, when combined with others – like sticks in a fire – they can achieve much more and sustain their efforts for a longer period.
